You Can't Stop the Earth From Moving
I am one, actually, two up on David and Shannon as of 12:34 AM Monday morning. Let me go back to last Friday. Kevin has been home for the past two weeks Turkey Hunting. This means getting up at 3:30-4:00 and getting his "gear" together to head out into the dark, dark woods; to sit in wait, clucking like a hen to get the Tom's all hot and bothered. Boy, what fun. ANYHOW, I have got used to him waking me up each morning for this ritual. On Friday morning, I am startled by Kevin sitting straight up in bed shouting, "What is that?" I bolt straight up and I am terrified. I can not figure what is going on. Windows are rattling along with all my wine glasses and I swear a giant is shaking the house! We get out of bed and head for the living room, still dazed and confused. Kevin says, "It's and earthquake!" and he heads to the front door. I start yelling at him NOT to open the door; not because I am concerned about his safety or mine but I did not want the kitties to get out and run off because they are scared. By the way, they were NOT scared at all; stupid cats! Anyway, still yelling at him not to open the door and him opening the door saying, "You can't stop the earth from moving", the house stops moving and silence. Very terrifying for me. I truly had NO IDEA what was going on at all. I really was so terrified I couldn't even think. At school everyone was talking about the big 5.4 earthquake that hit. So Tad and I decided to serenade the student body with "I felt the Earth Move Under My Feet" on the WSLE morning News Show. All were entertained! We have had 23 aftershocks, with me feeling only one of them early Monday morning about 12:35; 4.7. Needless to say, I do not like Earthquakes.

You can keep your Earthquake! I am as happy as can be that I haven't felt any of the quakes since we have been here. David did experience one when he was in the navy. Ask him about it sometime!
Where did you say you were living? Kentucky? It sounds more like Indonesia. As you know we get them all of the time. I am glad that you are Okay. I heard about it on the news and was very concerned for your safety.

I must tell you though I think I would have slept through it.
There is NO WAY you could have "slept" through it at my house! Seriously! Oh, and by the way, you are a dork!
ACK! I would have been freaking out but I have to say I am not laughing hysterically (since everyone is safe) at the image of Mom, terrified for her cats (who are probably licking themselves) and frantically yelling at Dad while he calmly opens the door to "view" the earthquake, telling her "you can't stop the earth from moving" in his ever so calm and matter-of-fact voice. HA!
